Smart. Sustainable. Chic.
Jute & Jackfruit is an online designer boutique committed to environmentally and socially conscious fashion. We carry limited-edition, handmade clothing, jewelry and handbags both Made in the USA as well as fair trade/ethically sourced collections made overseas. Jute & Jackfruit caters to emerging and independent female designers with unique, cutting-edge style. Jute & Jackfruit is committed to sustainability and also ethical/fair business practices.
What do we mean by this?
Sustainable
Jute & Jackfruit's clothing is made from the highest quality eco-fabrics such as certified
organic cotton, organic pima cotton, organic wool, cashmere, Tencel, soy and recycled fabrics among other fabrics. The designers we partner
with are committed to sustainability beyond their fabrics and produce their garments in an eco-friendly fashion, such as using eco-friendly
packaging, sewing clothes locally and recycling materials. Jute & Jackfruit runs our entire business with sustainability at the forefront,
using recycled paper products, buying electricity through wind-power, offsetting our carbon footprint at shows and recycling
our boxes. We are also a member of One Percent for the Planet, donating 1% of our revenue to environmental causes every year, and Jute & Jackfruit is also an approved business member of Green America, America's oldest and largest non-profit committed to environmental and social justice.
Ethical & Fair
Careful attention is given to how the clothing we carry is made, ensuring that it is ethically sourced. The majority of our collections are handmade in the USA such as Prairie Underground, Stewart + Brown, Kelly Lane, Feral Childe, Rebe and others. Those that are imported, we ensure are fair trade and fair labor. For example, Indigenous Designs has been a pioneer in organic and fair trade clothing for over 15 years, working with women's cooperatives in Peru.
One important goal of Jute & Jackfruit is to empower women worldwide. We try to partner with and support independent women designers here in the United States as well as designers and products that are made by women's artisan groups and cooperatives overseas.
Jute & Jackfruit is driven by three core commitments:
To empower women worldwide through socially conscious endeavors and fair trade.
Our clothing, jewelry and accessories are gorgeous, good for you, good for the environment and the people that made them. We are 100% committed to supporting women's groups, artisans, and designers worldwide. We believe that fair trade is a vital ingredient to fostering a vibrant worldwide community and aim to empower communities worldwide through our unique line of high quality products. Good examples of this include our Indigenous Designs knitwear, Nahui Ollin handbags, and our Guatemalan jewelry.
To support the environment in everything we do.
We are committed to sourcing organic cotton, wools and other sustainable fibers such as bamboo, hemp, soy, and mill-ends. In addition, when it comes to our jewelry and accessories, we also seek out environmentally-friendly products, such as our candy wrapper and newspaper handbags. Our fabrics do not contain toxic chemicals, were grown without the use of pesticides, and use low impact dyes-- resulting in luxuriously soft eco-friendly fabrics.
Other aspects of our business are also eco-conscious: our paper products, clothing tags and other materials are all made from recycled paper. We source recycled content gift-wrapping such as tissue paper and boxes. In addition, we use biodegradable plastic bags for garments (when bags are needed to protect from the elements) and recycle our boxes for shipping. We are constantly looking into was to reduce our impact and are currently exploring carbon-offsetting for our shipping among other initiatives.
To offer exquisite fashion-forward clothing, jewelry and accessories.
